Just hours after being broadcast, Tina Arena's induction of Johnny Young into the ARIA "Hall of Fame" is already being considered one of Australia's most poignant television moment.

Beyond her touching speech to her long time mentor and a tribute version of his former hit "Here comes the Star", Tina has also offered a thought to a dearly departed friend of many in the audience:

Billy Thorpe, my dear friend, you're so missed here. Rest in peace and accept the tribute we're paying to you as the humble expression of our love.

Tina has confirmed she will be attending this year’s Melbourne Cup on November 2nd.

As part of the Cup’s 150th birthday celebration, Tina will be a special guest in the Lavazza Pavilion, within the prestigious Birdcage at Flemington Racecourse.

As one of the country’s most high profile social events, Tina’s performance is expected to be a highlight of this year’s Cup carnival.

Later this month Tina will host the induction of her long term mentor Johnny Young into the ARIA ‘Hall of Fame’.
Johnny Young, who was not only an iconic writer and performer in the sixties and seventies, writing and recording tracks covered by Herman’s Hermits and Russell Morris, was also the founder and host of Young Talent Time, arguably Australia’s most important talent pool during its long running existence on TV and the show that gave so many talented artist their break.

A beautiful story, great acting, fantastic direction and the most amazing light,…just watch it !

The quality of the film selection was astonishing. The Australian and New-Zealand film industries are so interesting. Jointly the two countries produce around 50 movies per year and there is rarely a bad one among them. It brought me great pleasure to be able to sit and watch them all ; it made me want to see home. I'm so happy knowing I'll be there in a few days for the "Hall of Fame".

No doubt that's gonna be a very special trip for Tina.
