MOVE over MasterChef, Young Talent Time is about to steal the show as Kleenex-compulsory TV, with Tina Arena yesterday making an emotional reunion with her showbiz home.


Surprising the new generation of Talent teamers, Arena was welcomed on to the Sydney set with squeals and tears, ahead of the show's relaunch on Sunday.

She embraced each of the 10 cast members, sharing memories of her time on the classic star-maker series.

While her job title now says "judge", the 44-year-old reassured its young performers she would make the experience an inspiring and happy "family" time.

Clearly overcome, Arena dissolved into tears telling the team: "I would not be where I am today without this show."

The singer later said she has never been able to watch her final appearance on YTT.

"I don't know why I can't watch it, but it has always been too raw. I just can't go there." Known to generations as Tiny Tina after making her YTT debut aged 7 , Arena took time out to advise the show's new pint-sized star, Melbourne teen Aydan Calafiore. "This experience is going to allow me, very quietly, to take stock of what it is that I've done these last 30-odd years. I think the kids are going to help me do that, so I'm really excited and of course I'm emotional about it," she said.

"I feel very privileged that I stand up as some sort of role model for them. It's a big responsibility for me, but at my age I think it's one I'm ready to resume."

It is expected she will perform during the series, which debuts at 6.30pm on Sunday.

*Some of the YTT cast will perform at Westfield Liverpool this Sunday at 1pm
